A stress-free holiday season begins with early planning

08 November 2024

If you’re looking forward to the holiday season and are considering hosting one or more parties, it’s important that you’re adequately prepared to welcome guests into your chosen event space. The more prepared you are, the less stress you’ll feel as party time approaches. Besides, you want to come across as an organized, thoughtful host—not one who is aloof, tense, or panicked. Here’s how to host a party that you and all your guests will look back upon fondly, courtesy of At Your Service Environmental Solutions (AYS-ES).

Step 1: Clean, Sanitize, and Organize

An excellent party host is one who takes the time and makes the effort to clean and sanitize areas where guests will be gathering to eat, drink, and mingle. The idea is to cultivate a clean, comfortable party space. Be sure to dust, wipe surfaces, remove carpet stains, and clean your floors so you can eliminate germs, minimize allergens, and remove odors.

Once you’ve cleaned and sanitized the party space, make a point to de-clutter and get organized. We recommend accomplishing all these tasks one or two days before the party. That way, you can focus on other important items on your To-Do List, such as making food, hanging decorations, and preparing a fantastic playlist.

Step 2: Stock Up on Supplies

You know what they say about food: it’s better to have too much than not enough. Well, the same can be said about party supplies! Whether you’re hosting only one party or quite a few across the holiday season, we recommend stocking up on cutlery, plates, cups, and napkins.

It’s a good idea to have aluminum pans on hand, too, because these work well to keep food warm and secure, plus they make reheating and transportation much easier. We also suggest that you purchase sealable containers if you intend to send your guests home with desserts and/or leftover food.

Don’t forget to have plenty of toilet paper and tissues on hand. The more guests you have, the faster these supplies will dwindle. Before the party begins, put extra toilet paper rolls and tissue boxes in the bathroom that guests will be using throughout the party’s duration.

Step 3: Relax and Have Fun

Being a party host comes with a lot of responsibility, but don’t forget to relax and have fun. You deserve it!
